Call out for applications to the Life Chances Fund January 2017
The Life Chances Fund (LCF) will be open for Expressions of Interest to develop Social Impact Bonds in the themes of early years and young people from 4 January 2017. The Department for Culture, Media and Sports (DCMS) is seeking applications from local commissioners, service providers and intermediaries who seek to develop Social Impact Bonds to tackle complex social problems that affect children and young people.
The £80m Life Chances Fund was launched in July 2016 with the objective of helping those people in society who face the most significant barriers to leading happy and productive lives. The fund contributes to outcome payments for Social Impact Bonds.
Interest in the Life Chances Fund was very high for the first two themes, drug and alcohol dependency and children’s services, which closed for applications on 30th September 2016.
EOIs for the early years and young people’s themes are due by 31st March 2017. The early years theme aims to support children from pre-birth to age 5, who are at risk of poor attainment, behaviour and health outcomes. The young people theme focuses on reducing the risk of negative social, economic and health outcomes amongst disadvantaged young people from ages 11-24. Two additional themes, healthy lives and older people’s services, will be open to applications in June 2017.
